MINISTRIES:

Peoples Care Ministry

“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction.” - James 1:27

As the body of Christ, it is vital that we look out and care for our weaker members in an active way.  People who are unable to get to church to fellowship with other believers; those with failing health; those who may have been a part of our congregation in younger days, but are now unable to attend the church for some reason, these are all people who need care.  This is where Peoples Care functions,  in the nurturing  and care of our external congregation.

Ministry Resources:

Experiencing Grief by H. Norman Wright

In a sensitive and compassionate way we visit people in hospitals, retirement and nursing homes.  We listen to them; pray with, and for them; and assure them by sharing God’s word in the Bible with them.  Many folks also watch our television ministry, Living Truth, and consider The Peoples Church to be their church. These are our extended family members.  They often call upon us in need of a visit. This face-to-face visitation is known as Pastoral Care, and at The Peoples Church, affectionately as “Peoples” Care!

Nothing can replace a personal visit to someone who is suffering or in trouble.  These visits bring life and hope to the sick, the shut-ins, those in recuperation from illness or surgery, those in grief and those who may feel lonely, even forgotten.  Jesus met people where they were and he was the greatest visitor of all.  John 1:1-4 says, “And the word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.  We have seen His glory of the Father, full of grace and truth.”  HE came to us, so that we might go out to others.

We actively care for our congregation through:

  • Home Visits – As needs arise, special prayer meetings are organized in homes with serious sickness.  We visit, read Scripture, gather friends together and anoint the sick.
  • Sharing Communion – We extend communion (through memorial symbol of  Jesus’ body (bread)  and blood (grape juice) to the shut-ins to remind them of the fellowship they share in the body of Christ; Christ’s sacrificial death and His love for them at the cross.
  • Bereavement –Support is given by arranging and conducting funerals for loved ones; sending flowers, cards, comforting literature and assisting in handling business affairs which might be overwhelming to the grieving family members.
  • Weddings – These are performed on request and are preceded by pre-marital counselling.  Many of our pastors are happy to conduct these ceremonies.
