Love Your Neighbour as Yourself
Throughout the Greater Toronto Area, we have neighbours from all nations. Our multicultural city is a mission field in which we share the gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed.
Who is My Neighbour?
As you ask yourself this question, you can show the love of Jesus simply by befriending and praying for those who live on your block or in your apartment building.
And you will likely discover ‘neighbours’ in all kinds of places as God opens your eyes to the needs of others.
For ideas and encouragement, you can join our Facebook community of ‘good neighbours’ who are seeking to be mission-minded in their daily lives and relationships.
Welcoming newcomers to Canada by connecting immigrants, refugees and international students to resources and relationships that help them settle in and feel at home. Click here to learn more about the ministry!
Each month at Peoples, we announce a creative opportunity for giving and serving through the church and local ministry partners to bless our neighbours with everything from socks and diapers to sports equipment and school supplies. Please check back for more details! For more information contact us.
The Peoples Church serves in partnership with various ministry organizations active in the Greater Toronto Area to address these mission initiatives:
- Advancing gospel frontiers by supporting evangelism, Bible studies, church planting and community development among people groups who have not yet had the opportunity to hear or experience the gospel.
- Defending human dignity by providing compassion, rescue and rehabilitation through Christian ministries to those who have suffered due to slavery or trafficking.
- Developing healthy communities by delivering food, medical care and education through Christian ministries to women and children in vulnerable situations due to poverty.
Prayer Leads to Care, Opening Ways to Share the Gospel
Click here to read about how prayer opens ways to connect with new people and share the Gospel.
Refugees have left their homes and countries to escape persecution and oppression. We want them to feel God’s loving presence as they seek a life of dignity and peace. By partnering with Christian refugee shelters, our ministry team initiates regular times of connection with refugee claimants:
• Adam House (430 Gladstone Avenue)
Every first Friday of the month
• Matthew House (981 Dundas St. W)
Every third Friday of the month
Join the refugee ministry team and hear the stories of refugee claimants as they seek to find a new home and new hope in Canada. If interested, please contact us.
Homestead Women’s Rehabilitation Chapel
If you are interested in supporting women in recovery by gathering with them for prayer and Bible study, please join our volunteer team that meets monthly with the women from The Homestead Rehabilitation Program. If you are interested in learning more about this ministry, please contact Lily Cheng.
Pregnancy Care Centre Volunteers
Help women in crisis pregnancies by becoming a LifeBoat facilitator for the Pregnancy Care Centre. The LifeBoat program teaches parenting, goal-setting and budgeting skills through an established curriculum that is easy to facilitate. This is a great opportunity for us to invite these women into our church family. Training happens in North York. Facilitators can serve on a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, bi-monthly or on-call basis. If you know of anyone who may be interested in this opportunity, please have them contact Jaimie Lintag.
North York Moms Committee
Did you know The Peoples Church has been partnering with a group of moms in our neighbourhood made up of over 3,000 moms? We are looking for volunteers interested in serving and engaging with this dynamic group of moms and their families through mentorship, event volunteers, leadership development and childcare. Please email Lily Cheng for more information.
Business as Mission
Wednesday, February 22 • 7:00 – 8:30 AM • Cafe
If you are a Christian business professional, we invite you to our monthly gathering. The purpose is for you to connect with other business professionals and learn what the Bible says about Christian business. You will also learn how to utilize business for mission opportunities and determine expressions of compassion to newcomers. A light breakfast will be served. If you are interested in attending, please confirm your attendance at BAM@ThePeoplesChurch.ca.
Do you have skills as a carpenter, electrician, plumber or with computers? Do you have a few hours to volunteer your time and skills each month? There are members of our congregation and community who need your help and may otherwise not be able to get something fixed in their homes. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us.
