Emerging from a global pandemic, The Peoples Church leadership has been prayerfully watching the return of our people and carefully monitoring our resources. We expect to finish the current fiscal year (ending August 31, 2024) in a deficit position.
The Board of Directors (Board) has prioritized prayerfully discerning how best to address the financial deficit (exact numbers will be available after our year-end audit). We are grateful for all God has provided and continue to be committed to God’s mission and vision for our church: Growing the body of Christ for God’s global mission, which we believe fosters a movement of gospel-centred and globally engaged Christians.
Over the past few months, the Board and leadership team have worked to centre our vision and discern how to be good stewards, considering our current fiscal realities. As we pray and discern together, God is leading us to a plan to build a healthy foundation to eliminate the short- and long-term deficit.
In August, we began to carry out this plan to reduce expenses. Unfortunately, we also need to reduce the size of our staff team. While it is hard to release staff we love, we also know that God has good things for them. Would you please join us in praying for the transition of the following team members:
Paige Abuharoon
Nice Gallardo
Simon Ng
Mark Roberts

Prayer and Next Steps
1. We will continue to pray, seeking God’s guidance as we live into God’s vision and mission for our church.
2. We will continue to examine our financial realities, adding various ways to give you transparency into our finances beginning in autumn 2024 (e.g., via our weekly church email, Hello Church). The added information will allow you to pray and respond effectively.
3. As you pray and reflect, you may have questions. Please direct your questions to our Executive Pastor, karenh@thepeopleschurch.ca.
4. Pray for ongoing wisdom and discernment for the leadership team as we continue to steward our resources and advance our vision and mission.
5. Pray for cheerful and generous giving from all those who call TPC their home church:
– Ask the Holy Spirit to direct your first-time or ongoing generosity.
– Review your giving records through TPC to ensure your giving is up to date.
We appreciate your ongoing prayers.
