WELCOME TO THE TABLE

Christmas at Peoples

You are welcome, just as you are.

Jesus came into the world to welcome you. He welcomes everyone – every tribe, people, nation, and language. We see His love and warm embrace expressed throughout His life on earth, especially at the table. At His table the hungry are filled, the hurting are healed, and the hopeless find true hope.

The good news of the Gospel is that there is a place for each of us at His table, and He invites us to extend this welcome to others too.

Therefore welcome one another
as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.

– Romans 15:7

WELCOME MORE: KENYA

THIS CHRISTMAS

We have the opportunity to join our partner Mully Children’s Family in Kenya as they welcome the nation’s most vulnerable children to God’s table.

OUR PARTNER

Mully Children’s Family in Kenya, has been a longtime partner of The Peoples Church.

MCF enables the rescue, rehabilitation, and reintegration of Kenya’s most vulnerable children. Each child receives daily meals, medical and trauma care, a safe bed to sleep in, and an education. This is where children experience Christ’s love and find hope, as they are empowered to break the cycle of poverty, achieve their dreams, and impact communities. This isn’t an orphanage – it’s a family.

Currently, there are 4,000 children in the family. 23,000 children have been a part of the family since 1989. MCF is the world’s largest family, and they are transforming the entire nation one child at a time.

THE CHILDREN

Each child welcomed into Mully Children’s Family has a story to tell. But they aren’t the stories we’d expect to hear – especially from children. They are stories that know the painful details of poverty, violence, abuse, and disease, all too well. Yet, there’s a common theme that rises through the suffering in each of their stories – they are resilient.

When resilience encounters love, the story is transformed with hope – a hope to thrive instead of just survive, and a hope to welcome even more to the table!

Over the weeks leading up to Christmas, we’ll be sharing some of their stories on YouTube. Let’s take the time this Christmas, to listen to their stories.

As we hear about how God is moving in and through their lives, let’s seek Him to stir our own hearts for how we too can welcome more to the table.

THE CHALLENGE

A third of Kenyans are living below the poverty line, and the majority are children.

MCF’s holistic approach and impact in communities across the nation has been recognized as an essential service by the government of Kenya.

But this past year, the need for support has been overwhelming.

Due to a series of crises caused by major floods, severe locust swarms, and COVID-19, Kenya is seeing an increase in homelessness, hunger, and exploitation among the vulnerable – especially children.

The COVID-19 lockdowns alone have threatened the livelihood of vulnerable families, forcing children out of school and onto the streets to help make ends meet.

Thousands of girls have become pregnant, and children are taking care of children.

YOUR SUPPORT

This Christmas we have the opportunity to set the table together with our family in Kenya. We have the opportunity to welcome more children who will experience the warmth of a family and a loving God, as they are empowered to break the cycle of poverty.

Your financial gift will help MCF welcome more children who will:

  • Receive daily meals, medical and trauma care, a safe bed to sleep in, and an education.
  • Experience and learn about the welcome, love and mission of Jesus.
  • Be empowered to achieve their dreams, impact communities, and welcome even more to God’s table.

Together, we can welcome more to the table.
