Our Welcome & Event Operations serving roles are essential to ensuring everyone feels welcomed and cared for on Sundays and throughout the week at The Peoples Church!

Sunday Check-In

Join our Sunday Welcome Team to help ensure everyone has a remarkable Sunday experience at The Peoples Church!

Responsibilities

  • Welcome by assisting families to check-in their children for Sunday School
  • Provide a warm welcome by smiling and waving to people
  • Answer questions or direct people to where they can find an answer
  • Identify first timers and encourage them to visit the Connection Centre to get more information

Commitment

  • Sundays – 8:00-10:30 AM or 10:30 AM – 1:00 PM or BOTH!

Join our Sunday Welcome Team to help ensure everyone has a remarkable Sunday experience at The Peoples Church! Our greeters provide a welcoming experience both inside and outside the church building.

  • Provide a warm welcome by smiling and waving to people

Kitchen Support Team Member (Newcomers Ministry)

Our Newcomers Ministry is a welcoming community that seeks to provide compassion, connection, and community for newcomers to Canada. Serve at our weekly Sunday Newcomer Fellowship by providing kitchen support!

Responsibilities

  • Help with the weekly Sunday meal, including preparing, cleaning, washing dishes and serving meals
  • Assist the kitchen team with the preparation of meals while following all health and safety regulations and standards
  • Ensure that dishes are washed efficiently and maintain a clean work space throughout the day
  • Assist with cleaning kitchen counters, appliances and general kitchen areas
  • Upkeep of tea and coffee urns for the day
  • Collaboratively work alongside Newcomers Ministry Pastor and Newcomers Network leaders to provide kitchen support as needed

Skills

  • Welcoming, hospitable, and friendly demeanor towards newcomers to Canada
  • Willingness to walk alongside newcomers with patience and care as they journey in their new home country
  • Display patience and cultural awareness
  • Experience working in culturally diverse setting a plus
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Observe health and food safety handling procedures, regulations, and standards when handling food in any capacity (i.e., wearing gloves and hair nets) Training available

Commitment

  • We ask team members to commit for at least 1 year with the ability to renew
  • 3-5 hours per week with flexibly

Opportunities

    As part of the Newcomers Ministry team, you are part of a diverse & welcoming community that seeks to provide compassion, connection, and community for newcomers to Canada. Although this role has a supportive focus, there will be times when you will be directly involved with walking alongside newcomers to be welcomed and find a place of belonging.

    Since newcomers have diverse and varied journeys, this role includes various opportunities to support and walk alongside them with patience and care as they get acclimated to their new home country. This is also a great opportunity for you to share your talents and experience, learn new skills, and meet new people!

    Training Opportunities: Newcomers Network Orientation, Cultural Sensitivity, Diversity, and Equity Training, Food Safety Training

Requirements

  • VSS Police screening, multiple interviews, and forms
  • Must adhere to the Statement of Faith and Lifestyle Covenant of The Peoples Church
  • Must have attended The Peoples Church for a minimum of 6 months
Setup & Serving Team Member (Newcomers Ministry)

Our Newcomers Ministry is a welcoming community that seeks to provide compassion, connection, and community for newcomers to Canada. Serve at our weekly meetings by providing setup and serving support!

Responsibilities

  • Help with the setup of guest tables by assisting with table cloths, centre pieces, and other table items
  • Assist with the setup of the registration table and host tables
  • Ensure that information items are appropriately displayed on each table
  • Assist in the setup and the serving of the food at mealtime

Skills

  • Welcoming, hospitable, and friendly demeanor towards colleagues, staff, and guests
  • Ability and willingness to identify where help is needed and take initiative
  • Display the fruit of the Spirit as you serve
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Commitment

  • 5 hours each month
  • The role remains open as long as you able to serve!

Setup & Serving Team Member (Seniors Ministry)

Serve at our monthly Lifespring 55 meetings by providing setup and serving support!

Responsibilities

  • Help with the setup of guest tables by assisting with table cloths, centre pieces, and other table items
  • Assist with the setup of the registration table and host tables
  • Ensure that information items are appropriately displayed on each table
  • Assist in the setup and the serving of the food at mealtime
  • Assist with the clearing up of the tables after lunch by collecting items and returning them to the seniors’ cupboard
  • Upkeep of tea and coffee urns for the day

Skills

  • Welcoming, hospitable, and friendly demeanor towards colleagues, staff, and guests
  • Ability and willingness to identify where help is needed and take initiative
  • Display the fruit of the Spirit as you serve
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Commitment
