Serving on Sundays

Sunday Service Ushers

SUNDAYS • 11:30 AM & 2:00 PM

Our ushers often give the first impression of Peoples to our attendees on Sundays. They have the responsibility of ensuring that every congregant and visitor is offered care and assistance, making their visit to The Peoples Church as pleasant as possible. We are in need of ushers for both our 11:30 AM and 2:00 PM services. If you are interested in serving as an usher, please register through our Serving Directory.

Parking Team Volunteers

If you are looking for a way to get connected at Peoples we invite you to join our team that manages our most limited resource – parking! It can be challenging but the rewards are outstanding. If you are interested, please use our Serving Directory to register.

Next Gen Impact: Volunteer with our Children’s Ministry!

  • We’re looking for Children’s ministry leaders. There are opportunities in the 9:15 and 11:30 AM services to work with a variety of age groups from infants to kids who are 12 years of age.
  • We’re also looking for people to help on the team that oversees the electronic check-in system and greets families as they come in. If you enjoy technology or greeting newcomers, this is an amazing opportunity for you!

Camera Crew Volunteers

Do you wonder what it would be like to operate one of our HD sanctuary cameras? You can become a part of our Sunday Production Team! We will train and equip you with the skills to operate our cameras like a pro. Sign up through our Serving Directory or contact Ivar Hiort for more information.

Stage Hand

Our stage hands serve behind the scenes on Sundays to ensure things work smoothly on our stage. They ensure safety, that the correct items are in the proper place on stage during service, and help with a variety of things throughout the services. This can be a pressured role at times, but also a very rewarding role. Key strengths needed: Detail oriented, hands on work, ability to lift 20 lbs.

Lighting Design

Our lighting designers serve as a part of the tech team and are responsible for “painting” the stage with lights to create an environment of worship. They serve at Sunday services and attend rehearsals along with the rest of the Worship Arts and Tech Ministry teams. Sunday and Wednesday availability is required for this serving opportunity. Key Strengths: Visual arts or Graphic design, detail oriented. 

Projectionist

Our projectionists serve in the tech booth on Sundays and are responsible for controlling all of the graphical content of the screens in the auditorium. This includes song lyrics, graphics, sermon slides as well as playing videos. Sunday and Wednesday availability is required for this serving opportunity. Key strengths needed: Attention to detail, calm under pressure, love of music and musical knowledge.

Sunday Morning Kitchen Volunteers

Do you love working with food? You should join our kitchen volunteer team! We are in need of volunteers to serve in the kitchen and prepare food for our various ministries on Sunday mornings. If you are interested, Please sign up through our Serving Directory.

Serving Newcomers

Refugee Ministry

EVERY FIRST OR THIRD FRIDAY OF THE MONTH • 6:30 PM

Do you have a heart for refugees? We visit on the first and third Friday of the month to spread the love of Christ through hospitality. We want refugees to feel God’s loving presence as they seek a life of dignity and peace. This is a great opportunity to build relationships with refugees and fellow volunteers. We are in need of volunteers to share God’s Word at the following events. You will be guided on topics and we welcome you to lead at least once per month:

Newcomers Fellowship – Group Discussion

International Student Sunday Fellowship – Presentation
SUNDAYS • 1:00 – 3:00 PM

International Student Friday Fellowship – Group Discussion
FRIDAYS • 7:00 – 9:00 PM

The purpose of these roles is to help Newcomers to Canada understand concepts of God’s Word. The teaching schedules are flexible. Please click here to register.

Career Mentors

Many newcomers come from significant professional backgrounds and experiences. Yet due to their lack of experience and academic training in Canada, many are not able to find meaningful employment opportunities in their professional field. If you are in a specific profession, we would like to connect you with a newcomer who is in the same field. In becoming a mentor, you will have the opportunity to provide practical employment support and build meaningful relationships with newcomers. If you are interested, please contact us.

ESL Café

TUESDAYS • 1:00 – 4:00 PM • W203 & W204
THURSDAYS • 1:00 – 4:00 PM & 7:00 – 9:00 PM • W203 & W204

The Newcomers Network provides ESL classes for Newcomers to Canada through our Language Cafe. We are currently in need of ESL teachers to lead one of the following levels: Beginners, Intermediate or Advanced. Volunteer teachers are requested to commit for three months, once a week. If you have any form of education or experience with ESL and would like to help newcomers, please click here to register.

Kitchen Helpers

We are in needs of volunteers to help with Food Serving, Cooking and Clean-up for various Newcomer events. If you are interested in volunteering please click here to register.

Serving in Groups & Ministries

Life Groups Volunteers

Our Life Groups are in need of volunteers to help with the following roles:

  • Hosts (those who would like to host a group but not lead a group)
  • Apprentices (those who want to learn to co-lead a group)
  • Leaders
  • Coaches
  • Bloggers

Faith Fitness

MONDAYS & WEDNESDAYS • 7:00 – 8:00 PM • GYM

The Faith Fitness program is looking for female fitness or dance instructors. Examples of styles enjoyed at Faith Fitness are Zumba, Basic Cardio, Stretching, Salsa, Kickboxing, Muscle Conditioning or Ariba.
